Countertop day is one of our favorite milestones on any kitchen remodel. Up until that point, you've got cabinets, rough-in work, appliances staged - but it still feels like a construction zone. The second that stone drops into place, everything clicks.
Here's what we were working with on this one: crisp white shaker cabinets running floor to ceiling, stainless appliances already set, and a center island that needed the right surface to anchor the whole space. The stone we selected for this kitchen is a bold, heavily veined granite - white base with deep gray and black movement running through it. It's a statement piece without being over the top.
What makes a countertop install go well isn't just picking a beautiful slab. It's the fit. The seams. The edge profile. The way it sits flush against the cabinets and wraps around corners cleanly. We take our time on that, because once it's set, it's set. This customer is going to be cooking on these counters for decades.
The island slab in particular has incredible character - that kind of natural variation you just can't replicate with engineered stone. Paired with the pendant lighting overhead and the overall layout of this kitchen, it ties everything together in a way that feels intentional and built to last. We're deep into the finishing stages of this full kitchen remodel, and the final result is going to be worth the wait.
